Jon Bon
Last night, like every other aussie who has a heart for the nation, I stayed up watching the Soccoroos get knocked out of world cup glory.
I hear you cry out, using the epic words of Bon Jovi - "give me something for the pain!"
Ladies and gentlemen let me give you a short clip of one of the greatest ref's in the world. At a time when anger at international refs is at an all time high, let me allow you some time to stop, and laugh.
At least that's what it did for me.

With Crooked Sticks
I've added my church link, so you can all check out my new community. Links to sermons and all the rest are there, feel free to look around.
I've also added Bob Evans to my music list because he is amazingly great! You can have a listen to 4 of his songs on the site, I suggest you go have a listen.
I had a really beautiful evening last night. 6 of us went out for gormet pizza at the Q-Lounge at Glebe. It was good just to relax and have a laugh. It is difficult to beat pizza, herb bread and wine out of a small porcelain bowl.
For those who wanted the back half of last weeks sermon adventure - I ended up preaching on Luke 12:13-34 and exploring the deeply profound statements "a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possesions." & "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom." Praise the Lord for the way he uses such earthen vessels as you and me to bring such glorious news.
Or as an old medieval saying goes: 'God draws straight lines with a crooked stick'

Sometimes less is more
"How has he the leisure to be sick
In such a jostling time?"
- Bill Shakespeare
I'm on the edge. You know the feeling, nothing is drastically wrong per se but my neck is a bit stiff, my skin occasionaly tingles and I feel drained.
Last night for some reason my asthma kicked in whilst I was round at Bec and Joel's place watching the footy, so I had to head home at half time to suck down some medication.
Then there was the strange sleeping patterns. Asleep by 10pm, awake at 2am for a walk down King St and a Kebab, back to bed at 3am, awake at 6am. And the whole time I was having these psychedelic dreams/conversations in my head that often attack me when I get a little sick. However, my minister had given me Sunday morning off church, so at least it was going to be a lazy morning...
Details, details, details - this is all just context for the real whammy.
At 7:55am I recieve a call from my minister -
"Craig, the assistant minister is sick as a dog, and we need you to come and give the sermon for the 9:45am family service!"
"But........I don't have a sermon to give, in fact I feel like I've been hit by a truck and I'm still in bed."
"C'mon, just pick any passage, jot a few thoughts down and come and preach for us"
".....ok."
I had 35 min to shower, shave, dress, choose a passage, write a sermon and leave for church. It was all quite an experience to say the least.
I stood at the lecturn, no notes just an open bible at Luke 12, alot of prayer behind me and just .......preached.
Sometimes less is more.

World Cup Fever
It's upon us, no one can deny that. The team looks sharp and the telecasts are late - you gotta love international sport.
Let me guide you to the perfect place to celebrate such an occasion and to get into the spirit of things.

The chappo touch footy team came up against the undefeated 3rd year team (2005 Champions) this afternoon. Both teams were top of the table - 3 wins from 3 games and for a group of misfits who didn't achieve one victory last year, the new year has seen a turn around in the Chappo boys, instilling fear into the hearts of even the most skilled opposition.
With 10 min to go we were down 12-2 and needed a soccoroos effort to come from behind.....but we're a long way from Germany............and I aint no Harry Kewell. The score was sealed at 13-3.
some would say a 'shalacking' and they would be right.
None the less we had Tandori chicken for dinner with something containing chocolate for desert, so not all was lost.
I still struggle studying post dinner. For so long the 7pm - bed time slot has been filled with loafing. Its tough to teach an old dog new tricks.
Here's a question to leave with you all: If you grafted the branch of a lime tree onto a lemon tree, what would the new branch end up producing?

Quote of the Week
There was another quote I was going to post today.....a self quote, so you know it had to be good! However I lost the scrap of paper that I wrote it down on.
I know your all dissapointed.
None the less, here is something I was reading this week and very much enjoyed.
“I know all about the despair of overcoming chronic temptations. It is not serious, provided self-offended petulance, annoyance at breaking records, impatience etc. don’t get the upper hand. No amount of falls will really undo us if we keep on picking ourselves up each time. We shall of course be very muddy and tattered children by the time we reach home. But the bathrooms are all ready, the towels put out, and the clean clothes in the airing cupboard. The only fatal thing is lose ones temper and give it up. It is when we notice the dirt that God is most present in us; it is the very sign of his presence.”
- C.S Lewis
On the whole college is tops. I continue to be challenged and stretched. I'm not going all that well in my languages (greek & hebrew), but ever since the swanies 'come from behind' victory last week I figure that by November I could be topping the year.
heres hoping.
